The following Distributed Resource (DR) components are available in the DEW model:
CoGenerator (CoGen DR)
Fuel Cell
Induction (Ind DR)
Inverter (InV DR)
Synchronous (Syn DR)
See General Dialog Details for information on common dialog fields and commands, as only the highlighted fields and commands unique to the Distributed Resource dialogs are addressed in this topic.
The Distributed Resource properties dialog, shown below for an Inverter Type DR, is generally common for the various types of Distributed Resources, except that the Photovoltaic Powered/Parameters selections are applicable only for the Inverter Type DR.
Data - defines available equipment ratings and operating characteristics (from database) for the part selected.
kVA Rating - apparent power rating.
kW Rating - real power (P) rating.
kVAR Rating - reactive power (Q) rating.
Power Factor - power factor.
Voltage - generation voltage.
Rated RPM - rated RPM, as applicable.
Xs PU - (unsaturated) synchronous reactance, per unit ohm.
Xsat PU - saturated synchronous reactance, per unit ohm.
Xsub PU - subtransient reactance, per unit ohm.
Xtran PU - transient reactance, per unit ohm.
Tsub secs - subtransient (short-circuit) time constant, in seconds.
Tran
secs - transient (short-circuit) time constant, in seconds.
Control Type - sets modelled control scheme for distributed resource. Available selections, depending on type of DR, include:
Rated Constant P & Q Output - model uses rated power outputs (real & reactive) for DR in analyses.
Measurement Controlled P & Q Output - model uses attached measurements for DR in analyses.
Constant P with Power Factor Control - model varies power factor (via Q) to maintain constant real power output for DR in analyses.
Constant
P with Voltage Control - model varies generation voltage to maintain
constant real power output for DR in analyses.
Switch Unit OFF - select to take distributed resource off-line.
Photovoltaic
Powered - applicable for Inverter
Type DR only, defines DR to be solar powered generator, restricts
control type to measurement controlled, and activates Photovoltaic
Parameters command button.
Control Settings - defines set point limits for control variables used in analyses.
Upper Setpoint [_] Power Factor (or Voltage, kV) - defines the upper limit for control variable (i.e PF or kV) used to maintain constant real power.
Lower Setpoint [_]
Power Factor (or
Voltage, kV) - defines lower limit for control variable (i.e PF or kV)
used to maintain constant real power.
Maximum Fault Limiting
Factor - displayed factor defines maximum voltage drop (as percent
of rated) before reaching maximum current limit. For example, a factor of 20% (0.2000)
establishes the maximum fault current limit at 5 times the rated current
value.
Machine Parameter Values Exist for DistGen - flag setting to indicate that additional (rating/operational) details for DR are available in database table (PtMachineParams).
[Photovoltaic Parameters] - command button available only on Inverter Type DR with Photovoltaic Powered setting selected, which opens Photovoltaic Parameters dialog for defining solar installation parameters and attaching DR measurements from representative solar data imported from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Refer to Photovoltaic Parameters topic (found in Specific Component Commands section) for more details.
