See Load Estimation Setup for details on user input options for this application.
For general details on running an application, selecting and displaying output variables, see Running DEW Applications.
The
Available Output Variables
for the application are described in the last section of this topic.
The Load Estimation application calculates loads for all user selected circuits at the selected time point
If more than one time point is selected, Load Estimation results apply to the earliest time point selected.
If no time points are selected, Load Estimation runs for the first time point.
Loads are estimated for all phases present on line and cable sections and start of circuit components.
In Grounded sections - Loads are attached phase (A, B, or C) to ground
In Ungrounded sections - Loads are connected phase-to-phase (A-to-B, B-to-C, or C-to-A)
Plotting capability (load versus either distance or time) allows user to select and analyze multiple time points with application.
Load estimates are developed from various user-specified sources:
Spot Loads
Special Loads - where loads vary with selected operating point)
Customer Class Loads (kWhr, kW/kVAR) - where loads may vary with selected time point
Circuit Measurements - where loads may vary with selected time point
Target Loads
Factors influencing estimates may include:
Load growth factors
Load distribution factors
Load scaling factors
Load measurements
Time- Calendar year, Seasonal (i.e. Winter/Summer), Monthly, Daily (i.e. Workday/Weekend), Time (i.e. hour of day)
System flow measurements- current, power, reactive power
Install base- i.e. customers by class attached to line/cable section
See Running DEW Applications for general details on running the application, selecting and displaying output variables.
Three output formats are available when running Load Estimation. Along with the standard output display method referenced above, the user can run the application interactively to display results for selected components or generate the Load Estimation Report.
Interactive Run/Results:
The application runs interactively when the
Load Estimation Setup Output Option is set for View Component Results
and the Interactive Apps option is set on. Refer
to Load Estimation Setup
for more details. When run in this mode, the user
will be prompted with the mouse pointer (
) to select a component. Upon
selection, the results for the component are displayed in the Load Estimation
Results dialog (shown below for component "LN2"). After
review, the user can choose [Next]
to select another component for review or can choose [Close]
to complete the interactive run and exit the dialog.

The interactive results window display, depending on setup options and parameter availability, may include the following contents: |
|
Load Estimation Report:
Running the application with the report option selected produces a text output, which is displayed upon completion of the analysis. Reported for each circuit are:
Total kW Estimated by phase
Total kVAR Estimated by phase
Total kW Flow by phase
Total kVAR Flow by phase
Total
system kW Load by phase
(Cumulative with referenced circuit, such that last circuit reported
gives overall system total)
Total
system kVAR Load by phase
(Cumulative with referenced circuit, such that last circuit reported
gives overall system total)
